Human Rights & Fair Employment

Our Purpose
We believe everyone deserves meaningful work rewarded fairly. Connecting people to meaningful employment is our purpose and we carry it out ethically and responsibly, with respect for individual dignity and fundamental human rights. As a participant in the United Nations Global Compact, we support internationally proclaimed human rights and integrate these principles in our culture, strategy, and daily operations.

Our Global Commitments

As a member of the World Employment Confederation (WEC), we support the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) fundamental conventions and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We also uphold zero tolerance for human trafficking and forced labor across our clients, suppliers, and partners.

Our Standard Practices in India

1) Freedom from Forced Labour & Abolition of Child Labour

  • We prohibit forced labour and debt bondage. India’s Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 outlaws bonded labour nationwide; violations are cognizable offences.
  • We never charge fees to jobseekers or workers for temporary assignments or direct placements.
  • We comply with all employment and immigration laws in India.
  • We do not employ children. Under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, 1986 (as amended in 2016), employment of children below 14 is prohibited in all occupations; adolescents 14–18 are prohibited in hazardous work. India has ratified ILO Conventions C138 (Minimum Age) and C182 (Worst Forms of Child Labour).

2) Freedom from Discrimination & Equal Opportunity

  • We do not discriminate on grounds including gender, age, disability, transgender status, religion, caste, pregnancy, marital status, political affiliation, union membership, sexual orientation, or any other protected status.
  • India’s Code on Wages, 2019 subsumes the Equal Remuneration Act and prohibits gender-based discrimination in recruitment and wages for the same or similar work.
  • We comply with the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, including maintaining an Equal Opportunity Policy and implementing measures to ensure non-discrimination with persons with disabilities.
  • We respect the rights of transgender persons and prohibit discrimination in employment pursuant to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, including establishment‑level complaint mechanisms.

3) Safe & Respectful Workplaces (PoSH)

  • We maintain a workplace free of harassment, aligned with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH). We constitute Internal Committees at each eligible office, conduct annual training, and follow due process for complaints.

4) Freedom of Association & Collective Bargaining

  • We cooperate with employee representative organizations and engage constructively with trade unions at local and national levels, consistent with ILO standards and Indian law.

5) Fair Pay, Working Conditions & Social Security

  • We comply with the Code on Wages, 2019 (minimum wages, equal remuneration, timely payment), and monitor future implementation of India’s Labour Codes (OSH, Social Security, IR) as notified by the government.
  • We support maternity, adoption, and commissioning‑mother benefits per the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017 (including 26 weeks leave for eligible employees and crèche facilities for establishments with 50+ employees).

6) Human Rights Due Diligence & Responsible Business Conduct

  • We embed India’s National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct (NGRBC)-aligned to the UNGP “Protect, Respect, Remedy” pillars-into our policies, supply‑chain standards, and stakeholder engagement.

7) Ethics Hotline & Non‑Retaliation

  • We provide public access to the ManpowerGroup Ethics Hotline for reporting concerns or suspected violations of law or policy. We follow up on all reports and do not tolerate retaliation against good‑faith reporters.
(Note: Include your local India hotline details and escalation path.)

8) Client & Partner Expectations

  • We promote fundamental human rights throughout our sphere of influence and expect our clients, vendors, and partners to uphold these standards. Our practices to prevent human trafficking align with ILO norms and UN initiatives recognized globally.
